our-rector-attends-cudi-festival-held-after-40-years

Mount Cudi, which has not been visited for 40 years in Şırnak and is known for its constant terrorist incidents, hosted the Noah’s Festival. Şırnak Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, AK Parti Şırnak Deputy Rizgin Birlik, Mayor Mehmet Yarka, Gendarmerie Regional Commander Brigadier General Ali İhsan Ersoy, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan, Çakırsöğüt Brigade Commander Tekin Aktemur, representatives of political parties, representatives of non-governmental organizations and many people attended the festival. After flying the pigeons symbolizing peace on Mount Cudi which was climbed 40 years later, they went to the festival area with folk songs accompanied by erbanes. Those who reached the Sefine Region by road, prayed in the Noah’s temple. The Sefine region on Mount Judi, at an altitude of 2,114, where Noah's ark first landed, is known as the holiest place after Jerusalem by Muslims, Jews and Christians. Entrances to Sefine were banned after the military coup of September 12, 1980. Due to the clashes with PKK terrorists, citizens have not been able to go to Mount Cudi since 1984 for security reasons. After the area was cleared of terrorists as a result of the comprehensive operations carried out by the security forces, the Cudi Mountain Festival event was held under the auspices of the Şırnak Governorate, in cooperation with the municipality, Şırnak University and Dicle Development Agency. The event continued with the protocol speeches after the Quran was read in the festival area .
