Historical buildings in our city are being reconstructed with the successful projects that prepared by our university and with the support of Dicle Development Agency, Şırnak Governorship and Şırnak Municipality.The hundred-room Qasr of Miheme Axaye Sor (Mehmet Ağa Kasrı) which is being built on a 200 meter square in the university campus has been inagurated.Şırnak Deputy Governor Tunahan Efendioğlu, Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan, Şırnak Municipality Deputy Mayor Kamil Kurt, General Secretary of DİKA Ahmet Alanlı , Provincial Police Chief Mustafa Emre Başbuğ, as well as public institution chiefs, university staff and citizens attended the inauguration.Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erkan, The Rector, expressed that the universities have important activities other than education and training, like saving the culture and history of the cities they are in. "In this context, Şırnak University protects the historical texture of Şırnak", he said. He followed as , " Original stones were used in the construction of the qasr, and there are historical stones from the Byzantine period among them. We plan to use these stones on the upper floors of the building.There will be exhibition areas, painting, dengbej, photography and sculpture workshops in this student house. In addition, we will continue with other projects related to the historical artifacts of Şırnak .On this occasion, while protecting the cultural heritage of our city, we will also provide opportunities for our young people to develop themselves culturally and artistically "After the opening speeches, program continued with the ribbon cutting ceremony and the visitors touring the completed parts of the qasr.
